Lib Dems vote to scrap the Council Tax

The Liberal Democrats voted to scrap the Council Tax at their Spring Conference this weekend.

Lib Dem Leader Charles Kennedy attacked the unfairness of the Council Tax as it particularly hits pensioners and those on fixed incomes.

The Liberal Democrats would replace Council Tax with a fairer system of local income tax, based on ability to pay.
